We have a challenging role as a Youth Worker supporting young people at the Oasis Youth Residential Service, Canberra. This service provides a residential crisis accommodation service for young people.
Oasis Youth Residential Service has been operating for over 30 years, providing accommodation and support to homeless young people and their families. Our Youth Workers support and maintain a positive environment for homeless young people at the Oasis Youth Residential Service. We offer a client-centred service that uses effective empowerment, case management and crisis interventions to support the young people in the program.
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications (Cert IV or higher) in Youth Work or a related field
- An understanding of and empathy with the Christian faith, values and ethos of The Salvation Army
- Experience in working with clients in crisis support and intervention
- Experience in accommodation services
- Ability to work with a range of behaviours, different cultures and backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office
- Good networking skills
- Current Drivers Licence and Senior First Aid Certificate
- Willingness to consent to a Criminal History and other background checks
This is a shift work position, working 144.5 hours over a 4 week roster period, including day shifts on weekends and evening and sleepover shifts across 7 days. This position offers great benefits including a supportive environment, training and salary packaging.
